What type of filling machine should I choose for my product?

The first thing to know is that a filling machine is a machine designed to fill containers with different types of products. This type of machine is used in a wide variety of sectors, such as food, beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals...

When choosing the filler we need for our business, it is important to take into account the criteria described below:

Type of product

It is necessary to take into account whether the product to be filled is liquid, viscous, foamy, pasty, gaseous or solid. Please note that the filling of carbonated beverages, such as champagne, is carried out using capping fillers, which are equipped with a pressurisation system, which removes the air remaining in the bottle.

Type of container

Another important factor to consider when purchasing a filler is the type of container to be filled. There are bottle fillers, pouch fillers, jar fillers, can fillers, keg fillers, among many others. It is also important to consider the material of the container itself.

Production capacity

depends on the production requirements, which generally vary according to the size of the company. For small fillers, the estimated production capacity is given in number of containers filled per hour, while for larger fillers it is given in number of containers filled per minute.

Mode of operation

This is the level of automation of the machine. Fillers can be manual, semi-automatic or automatic.

Available space on the premises

Some fillers are quite large, so it is important to ensure that you have enough space to install the machine in question.

Once the above aspects have been taken into account, it is necessary to know what types of filling machines exist.

Automatic fillers: These are fully automated machines, i.e. they operate without the intervention of an operator.

Semi-automatic fillers: These fillers are called semi-automatic because some of the tasks are manual. Not being equipped with electric conveyors, these fillers require the operator to manually place the containers and initiate the filling process by means of a button or foot pedal.

Manual fillers: These are fully manual machines, which means that the operator must intervene in the different stages of the filling process. The operator places the containers and weighs the quantities.
